From the Lab to the Barbershop: Why Sovanni Is Starting With Men’s Skin
Before Sovanni ever reached a shelf, it reached a barber’s hands.
I had been working on a product quietly — testing texture, performance, feel, finish, and whether it actually made sense in real life. Not just in a beaker. Not just on paper. Not just as an idea.
I wanted someone who works with men every day to try it.
So I brought it to my barber.
No big pitch. No dramatic launch. Just a real product, made by hand, given to someone whose opinion I trusted because barbers understand something beauty often forgets: men want products that work, feel good, and do not make them feel like they are doing too much.
He tried it.
And he loved it.
That moment changed the way I thought about Sovanni’s first chapter.
Because this was not just about one product. It was about realizing that men’s grooming deserves more than basic formulas, harsh aftershaves, drying gels, generic pomades, and products that treat men’s skin like an afterthought.
Men’s skin is often ignored until there is a problem.
Irritation after shaving. Dryness under facial hair. Oiliness that gets dismissed instead of balanced. Ingrown hairs. Razor bumps. Scalp and beard discomfort. Texture that feels rough but is rarely talked about. Skin that is expected to look healthy without ever being given real care.
Sovanni was created to change that.
Our approach to men’s grooming starts with skin first.
That means performance matters, but so does the skin underneath. A styling product should not feel dirty or heavy. A grooming product should not strip the face just to feel “clean.” A formula should be functional, wearable, and intelligent — built for real routines, real barbershops, and real people with actual lives to live.
When my barber loved the product, it became more than feedback.
It became proof that Sovanni could live outside the lab.
Now, that product is being sold through local barbershops in my community — the same kind of spaces where trust is built through conversation, repetition, and real results. That matters to me. Sovanni is not beginning as a brand that only wants to look good online. It is beginning face-to-face, locally, through the hands of people who know grooming culture from the chair.
This is why Sovanni’s first direction is skincare-first men’s grooming.
Not because men need a separate beauty universe.
But because men’s skin has been underserved for too long.
Sovanni is building grooming products with the same seriousness usually reserved for luxury skincare and performance makeup: better textures, smarter ingredients, stronger wear, and a more intentional relationship between formula and skin.
This is grooming with a backbone.
Made in the lab.
Tested in the chair.
Carried by the community.
And this is only the beginning.
